Texas Christian University

Our Mission:  To educate individuals to think and act as ethical leaders and responsible citizens in the global community.
Core Values:  TCU values academic achievement, personal freedom and integrity, the dignity and respect of the individual, and a heritage of inclusiveness, tolerance and service.

Texas Christian University (known as TCU) is a private university located in the culturally rich city of Fort Worth, Texas.  Our student population (nearly 8900 students) consists of individuals from across the U.S. and over 85 nations.  TCU prides itself on a strong liberal arts education, a sense of community between faculty, students, and staff, and interaction with the local Fort Worth community and world.

International educational opportunities have accelerated at TCU in the past 5 years.  Over 25% of TCU students study abroad during their years at TCU and there are many non-academic programs in leadership and student services that take our students to other countries.  With the ever-increasing presence of India in today’s global world, TCU believes it important to actively pursue collaborations with India.

There are nine schools/colleges at TCU: 1) Business, 2) Communication, 3) Education, 4) Fine Arts, 5) Nursing/Health, 6) Liberal Arts, 7) Ranch Management, 8) Science/Engineering and 9) Honors.

Each of these units is active in international education and study abroad programs.  Faculty members from the School of Business have taken students to India.  Education, Nursing/Heath, Ranch Management, and Fine Arts all have strong opportunities for students to go abroad.

TCU is very interested in building ties with Indian academic institutions.   Initial beginnings such as short term study abroad opportunities and student/faculty exchanges are of particular interest.  Eventually the goal will be to offer semester exchange opportunities.  Interdisciplinary learning opportunities that build connections across disciplines are a priority.  Utilization of technology to sustain communication and learning while back at home institutions is also of interest.  TCU is not only interested in providing exchange and study abroad for our students, but we are also very interested in faculty exchanges.

While all of the schools and colleges at TCU are involved in international education, departments that maintain high participation in study abroad include communications (Film, television, and digital media), interior design, nursing and health sciences, business, and journalism.  There is interest in the study of India in our Asian Studies and Women Studies program.

The TCU campus is nearly completion of a 150 million dollar building campaign that has resulted in world-class facilities.  The campus is residential and pedestrian allowing for interaction and activities between faculty, staff, and students.
