Liselyn Adams

Liselyn Adams is the Associate Vice-President, International, at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. She joined the music department at Concordia University in 1980 after finishing her studies in the US and The Netherlands. She has taught a wide variety of courses in music performance, theory, and history. Ms. Adams was appointed Associate Dean for the Faculty of Fine Arts in 2002, and became the first person to hold the position of Associate Vice-President, International for the university in 2005.

It might not be obvious how a background as a chamber musician qualifies anyone for such a position. Concordia University enjoys a character that encourages the taking of chances, so it was decided to risk the appointment. Surprisingly, a background spent creating music in diverse groups where every member both leads and follows, always with no conductor, was useful preparation.
